About Me

As a recent college graduate I am exploring career opportunities. I am interested in how ICTs are changing the way we interact and community with the world around us.

Most people have a speciality and are learning how to integrate social media into their work. I am the opposite. I am knowledgeable in social media and trying to figure out which career path to venture down. Whatever I am doing I give 110%.

I have done research on the use of ICTs and social media as a backchannel during disasters and for political action. I would like to travel and research the use of mobile technologies in different countries.

Using social media to collaborate is very interesting to me. I like the idea of using tools like Twitter and Facebook to organize gatherings of online communities in physical locations. I organized SacBarCamp 2009, an unconference where attendees come to share, network, and collaborate in an open participatory format.

I am planning to attend postgraduate school in the future. I am researching programs that suit my research interests and objectives. I am going to gain more experience in the workforce and explore the possibility of pursuing an MBA degree. I feel I have the knowledge and motivation to make the world a better place. I want to accomplish this by studying information communication technologies and how we can utilize them to improve society. I have multiple interests surrounding ICTs and I want to combine several of them, as these technologies interact synergistically.

Here are some of my main new media interests:

  • Mobile communication
  • Real-time web
  • Location awareness
  • Crowdsourcing
  • Ad-hoc use of ICT for disaster relief and political action
  • Crisis mapping
  • Online communities and collaboration
  • Social media monitoring
  • New media curation
  • folksonomies
  • Citizen journalism
  • Interactive mapping and geo-tagging
  • Photosharing
  • Information visualization
  • Media literacy
  • Social media for non-profits

I am always eager to be involved in research in any of the following areas. Please contact me regarding opportunities or ideas and I will be happy to help and collaborate. Thank you.
